- Coach of 1 Region II Championship, 4 State Cup Championships and 10 Indoor National Championships
- Coached Bishop Foley to the State High School Championship in 2002

- Former Head Coach at Southfield/Lathrup Soccer Club (1980-1987)
- Former Boys and Girls Head Varsity Coach for Southfield Lathrup High School (1990-2002)

John Buchanan played for Southfield High School where he was All League and Captain of the team. He went on to play soccer for Henry Ford Community College.
